| Graner + Partner is proud of its experience of more than fifty years in engineering. This long history testifies that quality always prevails. Our corporate philosophy, which is to uphold the trust of our business partners at all times through quality and innovation, has paid off since the first day. The 1950s | In 1955 Heinz Graner, chief sound engineer at the Nordwestdeutscher Rundfunk (Northwest German Broadcasting), and his wife Hildegard found a company specialising in room acoustics and sound insulation. The office is established at no 7 Am Kleyberg in Bergisch Gladbach - in their own house. The 1960s | The Graner office is expanding rapidly, and the premises in the private dwelling soon become too small for the growing company. This is why in 1965 the attic is converted into an office to accommodate the first employees. In 1967 the Graner office is officially accredited as an acoustic testing laboratory. The first major contracts of the young company include the Wuppertal Schwimmoper ("Swimming opera") and the town halls of Mainz and Stuttgart. The 1970s | By 1974 the Graner office already employs too many staff for the premises in the attic of the family home. The company is therefore moved two streets away to a house at no 15 Lichtenweg, and the company changes its name to Ingenieurbüro Heinz Graner. During this period, the engineering firm is entrusted with projects such as the Landtag of North Rhine-Westphalia in Düsseldorf and the concert hall of the Luxembourg Conservatoire. The 1980s | In 1980 the Heinz Graner engineering office is converted into a private limited company (GmbH). The company continues to grow and numerous conversions are carried out at the new offices. A storey is added to the house, and a laboratory and an echo chamber are fitted. In 1988, now with four shareholders and many employees, the company changes its name to Graner + Partner GmbH. Contracts are signed for projects at the "Haus der Geschichte der Bundesrepublik Deutschland" in Bonn and the Göttingen university library. The experts at Graner + Partner are invited to participate in the completion of the Cologne Philharmonic hall, and take part in a project at the Rheinbach technical college for glass and ceramics design. The 1990s | In 1991 a branch is opened in Lutherstadt Wittenberg, followed by another in Leipzig. In 1996 a storey is added to the laboratory areas at the office in Bergisch Gladbach, and they are extended. Numerous orders in Eastern Germany follow, for instance the Bergen-Rotensee cogeneration unit on the island of Rügen, the Landtag of Saxony and the state library of Saxony in Dresden. The 2000s | In 2001 Graner + Partner obtain the DIN EN ISO 9001:2000 quality management certification. In order to be able to continue to expand, the adjacent building at no 17 Lichtenweg is acquired in 2002 to extend the existing offices. In recent years, important projects have included the Gelsenkirchen Veltins-Arena, the Erfurt theatre, the Dortmund concert house and the Münster Sparkasse. Outlook | After more than half a century of successful operation, the future of Graner + Partner now lies in the safe hands of Brigitte Graner and Bernd Graner-Sommer. Our corporate philosophy has remained unchanged: to uphold the trust of our business partners at all times through quality and innovation. |
